In the fluorescent hum of a lonely prairie truck stop, Alberta’s pride and joy—an ATM painted proud in maple-leaf red, white, and blue—stood tall and trusting. It had just finished counting out a hard-earned oil royalty when the door burst open.
In strode Ottawa, grinning like a man who’d found an extra zero in the budget. Over one shoulder rested a cartoon-sized mallet the size of a Senate committee report. “Evening, partner,” he boomed. “Time for a little… fiscal recalibration!”
The ATM’s eyes went wide as saucers. “Wait—I’m not even overdue on my equalization payments!”
Too late. The hammer came down with a comic *WHAM*, glass and green bills exploding into the air like confetti at a badly planned federal budget announcement. “OTTAWA SMASHES” roared across the top of the scene in bubble letters, while the punchline landed below in unapologetic black block: “ALBERTA’S ATM.”
