You already knew, didn’t you? Same hull, different sermon, same lecture from the sundeck. Silicon Valley didn’t disrupt the yacht — they just ordered a matching fleet, called it vision, and started telling you about scarcity while the ice machine hums.
Folks, this is your harmless lovable little fuzzball with talent on loan from God. Half my brain tied behind my back just to make it fair, and I’ll still do the reading so you don’t have to. Mega dittos. Excellence In Broadcasting never sleeps.
They line up on identical palaces at sea. Jeff Bezos’ Koru: 417 feet of sailing yacht, half a billion dollars, jacuzzis, pool, nine staterooms — plus the 250-foot support boat Abeona with a helipad so the main hull never has to work. Mark Zuckerberg’s Launchpad, 387 feet. Sergey Brin’s Dragonfly and the rest of the fleet. Larry Ellison’s been in the game for years with Musashi. Same unofficial rule: bigger boat, richer owner. That’s not innovation. That’s a con with better Wi-Fi.[1]
One of them says AI is coming for your job like a supersonic tsunami — desk work gone like slide rules. Another’s “delighted to be wrong” after two years of doom talk. A third’s just “exploring.” Regulations, that’s why the miracle isn’t shipped yet. They cash out, you clock in. They lecture carbon footprints from private jets. Bezos flew the Gulfstream to COP26 to tell the planet about Earth’s fragility. Bill Gates buys offsets and still logs more miles than a commercial pilot. Same pattern, fruited plain to marina.[2]
Thomas Sowell had it right before any of these boys bought their first hoodie:
The first lesson of economics is scarcity: there is never enough of anything to fully satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.
They skipped both lessons and bought the yacht instead. Trust the process — just not theirs. They innovate excuses, not products.
You wear this because you keep your word on a Tuesday. Personal responsibility isn’t a slogan from a sundeck. It’s the only thing that ever worked. The Excuse Admirals will keep preaching. You already knew.
